Dialtone

SteadyLink can provide your business with high-quality, reliable dialtone services, in addition to delivering full or partial migration overlay services to help you transition to a new solution. Additionally, we offer competitive pricing analyses, telecom audits, and assistance and consulting services concerning newer technologies.

Here are some of the different types of business telephone services we can provide to enhance your company’s communication capabilities:

  • Analog trunks or plain ordinary telephone service (POTS) is common among home offices and smaller businesses. It’s also frequently used as an inexpensive backup telephone line option.
  • Cellular connections can meet the needs of businesses that aren’t able to pull infrastructure or cabling to their location and have low call volumes. At high volumes, however, cellular connections can prove expensive. Cellular connections have become popular as an option for secondary voice connections since they provide a quick and convenient alternative if a business experiences an outage or has its primary wiring cut. Providers deliver SIP trunks and other communication methods by using 3G and 4G networks and SIP trunking over data plans.
  • SIP trunks can ride over your Internet connection, although riding SIP trunks over the service provider’s connection allows for better security and quality control.
  • SIP trunks with POTS or primary rate interface (PRI) handoff works well for businesses that want to leverage SIP connections without replacing their current phone system. SteadyLink can install a router or termination device to convert the handoff method to your system. We also use session border controller functionality to ensure security. Additionally, for bring-your-own-Internet clients who ride SIP trunks over a connection from another Internet service provider, we’ll typically install a quality of service device for optimal call outcomes.
  • SIP over fiber Internet provides SIP trunks over high-speed fiber optic connections. SIP over fiber Internet can come in the form of POTS lines, voice PRI, or true SIP trunks. However, fiber Internet presents some challenges for businesses that don’t already have fiber on site, necessitating infrastructure upgrades and leading to considerable build-out costs.

Business T1 lines and PRI circuits
SteadyLink can also provide T1 lines and PRI circuits to meet your business telephone service needs. A T1 consists of two copper pairs from the telephone network that deliver voice, data, or a hybrid service. Depending on your business requirements, you might need one business T1 line or multiple T1 circuits.
Some common business T1 lines include data T1, point-to-point T1, integrated T1, hybrid T1, flex T1, burstable T1, dynamic T1, VoIP T1, and SIP T1.

We can provide telecom audit services, reviewing your IT infrastructure and phone systems to help you gain a better understanding of your capabilities and your business needs. Larger businesses and /or those that need multiple T1s typically end up ordering one of the following:

  • T1 – 1.544 Mbps
  • T3 – 43.232 Mbps (28 T1s)
  • OC3 – 155 Mbps (84 T1s)
  • OC12 – 622 Mbps (4 OC3s)
  • OC48 – 2.5 Gbps (4 OC12s)
  • OC192 – 9.6 Gbps (4 OC48s)

T1 vs. cable Internet
Cable Internet has become increasingly popular as an inexpensive way to gain access to large amounts of bandwidth. However, aside from the price, cable Internet comes with a number of disadvantages. These include a shared line that leads to other subscribers hurting your connection speed, unguaranteed bandwidth with varying upload/download speeds, and typically slow support responses to outages or issues.

T1 lines, by contrast, offer more flexible and varied service options, including voice only, Internet only, or hybrid solutions. Additionally, T1 lines generally have better support response times, business level guarantees built into the provider agreement, and competitive pricing (since T1 providers are available across the globe). However, standard intervals for turnup can be 3-6 weeks, while cable Internet and voice services might be expedited, depending on facility availability.

Voice PRI
PRI allows for as many as 23 concurrent call paths and involves a digital circuit rather than analog POTS lines or an analog circuit. If your business has approximately 6 phone lines, you might benefit from implementing a voice PRI, which allows direct inward dials and number consolidation and expansion. It also eliminates cross talk, and businesses with 6 phone lines and 6 numbers can leverage 6 channel PRI to have 10, 20, 50, or even more than 100 phone numbers.

T1 and PRI services from SteadyLink
We offer business telephone services involving T1 lines and PRI to boost your communication abilities, including the following offerings:

  • Voice T1, traditional PRI, voice PRI, or full PRI involves voice services delivered using a T1 circuit. A traditional PRI connection provides you with as many as 23 concurrent call paths. Please note that this circuit is static and only provides voice services.
  • Dynamic T1, flex T1, VoIP T1, or dynamic voice PRI gives your business a handful of voice channels and delivers Internet connectivity using the same T1 circuit. If you need at least 6 concurrent call paths, this solution can prove cost effective, since companies with full voice PRIs don’t usually achieve optimal traditional voice PRI use. These circuits also allow for monitoring, allowing for better outage visibility.
  • Bonded T1s work well for businesses that need dynamic T1s in addition to more bandwidth. A bonded T1 can deliver not only access to larger bandwidth but also multiple voice PRI or voice T1 handoffs.
